Mental Fortitude

Mental fortitude can be defined as "mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously". Any goal we set in life will take a form of mental fortitude and level of determination in order to accomplish. We can mentally set ourselves up for success or failure depending on our mental fortitude.

Consider this:

Think about something you would never do because you know it is harmful, let's say smoking.  Why would you never smoke?  If you smoked in the past, why did you quit? Use this reasoning when it comes to your food choices.  Why do you choose not to eat something?  Why do you not go back for seconds if you ate an adequate amount in the first serving?  Using the sounds reasoning behind why you will or will not do something is developing your mental fortitude in a way that will help you to be successful in your goals.

Mindfully eat; do not mindlessly eat.

Consider this:

Think of something you do without thinking everyday because it is beneficial for you, let's say brushing your teeth.  Why do you brush your teeth? Are you at times tired and do not feel like brushing your teeth?  What motivates you to do it anyway.  Think of healthy teeth, good looking teeth, and no bad breath.  These are the motivators. Use this reasoning when making yourself be physically active.  Get into a habit of some sort of physical activity every day, when it becomes a habit you will do it whether you feel like it or not.  Make it doable and beneficial!
