Cut the Sugar

Cutting down on sugar can be a tough thing to do.  We all do well to stay away from as much refined sugar as possible, however, if we are already in the habit of using sugar on a regular basis the transition can be challenging.

Try to set limits and goals in your sugar use.  An example: if you are using a tablespoon equivalent of sugar in your coffee or tea, set a goal (say in three weeks) to wean yourself. Every few days put a bit less sugar in (measure so you can see your progress).  You can go from sugar to honey if needed but eventually your palate will adjust and you will find yourself not wanting it or at least being ok with not having it.

Sugar in itself and in moderation is not a bad thing.  If you choose to use sugar, the raw unrefined kind is the best. The following link gives some insightful information regarding sweetners of different kinds.
